UNDERSTANDING THE BIRTH CHART : WHO AM I?

YOUR BIRTH CHART: WHO AM I?

A person’s chart or horoscope is divided into 12 houses. Each house governs certain aspects of a person's life. Based on the placement of the planets, the sign in which they are placed and the relations which the planets have with each other, there can be countless combinations and that’s why each of us has a unique birth chart as per Vedic astrology.

The sign in which your ‘Lagna’ or ascendant is placed becomes your 1st house. The sign next to that (anticlockwise), becomes your 2nd house. The one next to that is your 3rd house and so on till the 12th house.
  • The 1st house is considered a LUCKY and an IMPORTANT house, as it aspects your personality (House No 1) & generally the planet(s) which aspect your personality (if well placed) are important and lucky for you. The 1st house is therefore an important house.
  • The 5th and 9th Houses are considered LUCKY houses as well. The 9th house is also called 'Bhagyasthal' (LUCK HOUSE) which means that a good placement of planets in that house can give good luck and prosperity to the native.
  • The 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th houses are the central houses of the birth chart, hence they are also called Kendras or quadrants: They are powerful houses, planets get strengthened when they are placed in these houses (also depends on where and how they are placed).
